North Island Surfing

July 5, 2010

My newfound love for surfing this year has sent me dashing to Tofino at every opportunity and eyeing the surf reports for days that make an after work session worth the drive. I've become passionately involved in this new, wonderful, activity, and this weekend I found a new place to do it:

It took 4-5 hours of driving north with the last 45 minutes on a logging road, and then a several kilometre hike through muddy forest trails to get there, but when you get there you are greeted with a beautiful, isolated, quiet, white sand beach, with beautiful beach breaks.

By far one of the best weekends of the summer so far, and I'm itching to go back. This island is full of wonderful surprises! I'm going to miss the west coast while I'm away on holidays this summer!
